The City of Surat, a major commercial and trade centre in Gujarat State, is situated on the banks of river Tapi and having the coastal line of Arabian Sea on its west. We were appointed to develop storm water drainage system in Old SMC & Vesu Area of Surat City for collection and disposal of rain water into natural drains leading to Tapi river including appurtenances like manholes, catch pits, inlets, outlet structures. The total area covered under Old SMC is 112.28 Sq.km & Vesu is 1102 Ha.

PROJECT OUTCOME :

The main objectives of providing the storm water drainage systems to these areas of SUDA are:
To protect the life of human, cattle and other living ones against the damage due to flooding. To protect properties, equipment, machineries etc. of individuals or public as well infrastructure facilities available in the area against damage due to flooding. To protect against the loss of manhours of working people, business personnel as well as production hours in various industries for better socio-economic conditions and more productivity to sustain the economy of this area, Gujarat State and also of the country, at large.
