RO-RO JETTY AT LARSEN & TOUBRO HAZIRA

Reliance Industries Ltd. were setting up a petrochemical plant at Hazira and planned to import equipments weighing 500-700 tonnes. Larsen & Toubro ltd was in charge of transferring the heavy Over Dimensional equipment. The equipment was to be brought to Anchor point in a heavy lift vessel, unloaded on a hydraulic trailer on Roll on Roll off Barge then towed to the new jetty constructed on the bank of Tapi river, and rolled off to be transported to the plant site. MMCPL was given the task of preparing a jetty to transport he equipment across Tapi River.

MMCPL prepared a detailed report based on the orientation, location, sifting of the jetty and subsoil investigation. The company provided detailed designs the of RCC diaphragm walls for the jetty and ramp approach road.

PROJECT OUTCOME :

As a result of MMCPL, the jetty was successfully constructed. Equipment worth 700 tonnes was transported successfully without any glitches. The jetty has been retained by L&T and numerous operations have been done on the jetty to date, the maximum being upto 6000 tonnes.
