SUGEN 1147.5 MW CCPP, set up at an investment of Rs. 31 Billion, is an ambitious project of the Torrent Group for meeting the power deficit in the western region of India in general and for meeting the power requirement of its Ahmedabad ( including Gandhinagar) and Surat distribution areas (which are part of the western regional grid and the Gujarat state grid). The project is strategically located. It is close to River Tapi, National Highway No.8, gas supply infrastructure comprising LNG terminals and main gas trunk lines.
The Water requirement for the project was covered by constructing a 70 Mld Water Supply Scheme based on Tapi River. The project involved construction of Intake Well on Tapi River near Gaypagla, Control Room on the Banks, 900 mm dia GRP Pipeline in about 6 km length, Raw Water reservoir having about 7 days storage capacity.
During the conception of the project MMCPL scope including doing a hydraulic study of the Tapi river to establish water availability. MMCPL prepare the necessary feasibility report for Government Approvals.
During the execution phase MMCPL scope included conducting soil investigations at the site, preparation of detailed designs, working drawings and cost estimates for all civil and pipeline works components including valves, valve chambers etc. Designs, Working drawings and cost estimates. The service also covered inviting tenders, evaluation of the bids, recommendation for award of work etc. and third party inspection and material testing, direct supervision over execution of complete contract to ensure quality control, timely completion, guaranteed performance of the work.
PROJECT OUTCOME :
The power plant alongwith the water supply scheme was successfully commissioned in time limit .
