Railway Under Bridge At Kubernagar,Ahmedabad

Project Summary:

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has constructed Railway Under Bridge at L.C. No. 8 at Rly. km 400/9-10 at Kubernagar ITI across Ahmedabad – Udaipur M.G. Railway line between station Naroda & Dahegam at Ahmedabad. RCC box is to be pushed under the railway portion and approaches joining to the existing road on both sides. Detailed Design and working drawing of box thrust bed, thrust block and cutting edge, approach with U-wall & retaining wall with open foundations. Total length of approach portion is 164.14 m including U-wall in railway portion & solid slab bridge on service road parallel to the railway line on Kotarpur side approach. Total length of approach on Naroda side is 161.36 m.

  • Preparation of Tender document including specifications.

Cable Stayed Bridge Bhavnagar Gujarat India

Project Summary:

Construction of a NEW HIGH LEVEL CABLE STAY BRIDGE two lane with footpath at Bhavnagar Creek by R&B Department Government of Gujarat.

Total length of bridge is 384.30 m consisting length of bridge portion is 180, Bhavnagar side approach 101.90 m & Nirma side approach 102.4m. Total width of bridge is 16.0 m having with clear carriageway 11 m, two crash barrier of 0.5m, footpath 1.65 m & parapet 0.35 m on both side.  RCC deck for pier segment and back span in m:45 concrete.

MMCPL was assigned following duties for this Project:

  • Preparation of Detailed Design and working drawings for all bridge components with support from Freyssinet CIE,France
  • All Design and working drawings got approved from Design R&B Circle, R&B Department Government of Gujarat, Gandhinagar.
  • All Detailed Design working drawings completed & have been approved by SE Design R&B Circle, Gandhinagar

Fly Over at Shivranjani

Project Summary:

 

Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority has proposed to construct 4 lane flyover bridge on BRTS Corridor at Shivranjani Junction. 1 span of 45 m. in PSC box type girders superstructure in M-45 concrete.  Approach superstructure consist of pre-cast pre-tentioned beam, casted in yard. There are 7 spans 20 m. c/c with 140.10 m. retaining wall on Jivrajpark side and on Memnagar side it is of 6 spans, 20 m. c/c with 112.7 m. retaining wall.  Thus total length is 557.80 m.

Memnagar Flyover

Project Summary:

 

Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority has proposed to construct 4 lane flyover bridge on BRTS Corridor at Memnagar Junction on 132 ft. ring road. 4-lane flyover bridge & total width is 24.20 m.  Junction span is 45 m. of PSC slab type superstructure in M-45 C.C. Approaches are of pre-cast pre-tensioned beams to cast in yard.  Approach on Shivranjani side consist of 3 spans at 20 m. C/C with 109.60 m. long retaining wall and on Akhbarnagar side it is of 7 spans, 20 m. c/c & 107.8 m. retaining wall.  Thus total length of FOB is 382.4 m.

Fly Over At Lalbaug,Vadodara

Project Summary:

 

Vadodara Municipal Corporation has proposed to construct 4-lane railway over bridge across Dabhoi – Jambusar B.G. Rly. Line Nr. Lal Baug between station Vishwamitri – Pratapnagar at Vadodara.Construction of approaches to ROB at Lal Baug. It Consist 11 spans of 20 m on & 154.7m retaining wall Sayajigunj side & 12 spans of 20.0 m & 132.84 m retaining wall on Makarpura side. RCC box type superstructure in M:30 concrete. 1 spans of 12 m, 10 spans of 20 m RCC box type superstructure with 159.59 m retaining wall on Padra side.  1 spans of 12 m, 12 spans of 20 m RCC box type superstructure with 130.41 m retaining wall on Pratapnagar side. In the foundation 1000 mm dia pile foundation in M:30 concrete & 600 mm dia in retaining wall portion, total length of approaches to ROB is 747.54 m (excluding railway span) width of bridge 14.9 m on main bridge & approach ramp towards Padra side. Width of bridge 8.4 m on approach ramp towards Pratapnagar side. Wall type RCC pier, pier cap, pedestal, side wall & dirt wall in M:30 concrete are proposed. RCC kerb, Parapet, Approach slab, Central verge and footpath are proposed on the superstructure deck. Overall width of Approach & railway portion is 14.9 m consist 2-lane carriageway with RCC crash barrier.

Vadodara Municipal Corporation has proposed to construct 2 lane Rly. Over bridge across A’bad- Mumbai B. G. line at Km. 395/10 between station Vadodara & Makarpura Near Dinesh Mill, Vadodara. In railway portion ROB superstructure consist of 43.32 mt. bridge length.  1 span of 32.215 m. & 1 span of 11.305 m. T-beam & deck slab with 4 girders in PSC M-45 Overall width of ROB is 11.4 m. Approach on Dinesh Mill side is of 14spans, 20 m. c/c & 110 m. retaining wall.  Approach on Mahadev side of 11 spans, 20 m. c/c & 105 m. retaining wall. RCC box type superstructure in M-30 for approaches.  Overall width of railway portion is 11.4 m including 2 lane carriageway and crash barrier 1.5m wide footpath. File foundation of 1200 mm dia. Piles are proposed for ROB substructure is of RCC piers of 5m x 1 m. in M-30 concrete on RCC pile cap.

Bridges On Ahmedabad –Vadodara Expressway – National Expressway No.1

PROJECT SUMMARY :

The Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway is a major artery of public transport connecting the cities of Ahmedabad and Vadodara in the state of Gujarat, India. The 95 km long expressway reduces the travel time between the two cities from about 2.5 hours on National Highway 8 (NH 8) to about an hour. NH 8 is amongst the busiest national highways in India. This expressway has 2 lane each side and one service lane. There are two exits provided for Nadiad (50 km from Vadodara) and Anand (35 km from Vadodara).It is a part of the Golden Quadrilateral Project by NHAI.

MMCPL was assigned the work of designing the following bridges which form an important part of the Ahmedabad – Vadodara Expressway – Bridge on River Khari/Bridge on Waterway at Km 16.90/Bridge on River Watrak/Bridge on River Meshwo/Bridge on River Shedhi/Bridge on Mahi Kotar.

PROJECT OUTCOME :

The Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway NE-1 was opened to traffic in March 2004. It is one the best roads in India today. It has reduced the travel distance between Ahmedabad and Vadodara by 1.5 hours which is significant achievement on the one of busiest highways of the country.

Fly Over Bridge Near Athwa Gate Junction In Surat City.

PROJECT SUMMARY :

Surat is India’s ninth and Gujarat’s second most populous city with a population of 3 million (2001). It is the fastest growing city in India with a decadal growth rate of 85% from 1991- 2001. Surat has made an important position in the world and national economy. The economy is based on the diamond trade, zari and textiles (power looms).

 

Athwa Gate Junction in Surat City is a very busy Junction where traffic from five different directions, viz. from Sardar Bridge, Nanpura, Timaliyawad, Railway Station and Dumas side, mingles to create acute traffic problems. In order to ease out the problem to a certain extent, the traffic coming from Sardar Bridge, i.e. Adajan side, and going directly to the Railway Station is segregated by constructing a Fly Over. The Fly Over Bridge which starts from the abutment of River Bridge across Tapi, i.e. Sardar Bridge, in fact consists of two separate single lane Bridges on either side of the River Bridge approach spans. While the River Bridge approach eases down and meets the road junction, the side Fly Overs continue to run at a higher level and slope down only after they cross the traffic junction and run as a two lane carriageway after merging.

 

PROJECT OUTCOME :

The construction of the Flyover at Athwa has eased the traffic problems along the most important link on the ring road linking the Eastern and Western Areas of the city divided by Tapi River. The award was adjudged 3rd prize for Innovative Design by the American Concrete Institute (India Chapter)

Constructions Of Flyovers At 3 Junctions On 40 M Ring Road Of Ahmedabad City

PROJECT SUMMARY :

Ahmedabad is the 7th largest city in India with a population of 5.5 Million and covering an area of about 450 sq km. The city has a ring radial pattern of road which is very well defined. As an initiative of the Jawarhalal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission and in view of making cities sustainable, it will decided to provide a Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) in Ahmedabad. The first phase of the system envisaged construction of about 55 km of Roadways and 8 New Flyovers. The BRTS moves on the 40 m ring road from RTO Junction to Shivranjani Junction. The BRTS corridor involves a dedicated corridor for buses and separate lanes for mixed traffic. As part of the BRTS corridor construction it was decided to provide grade separation for mixed traffic at 3 of the busiest junctions along the BRTS corridor. i.e.  Shivranjani Junction, Sola AEC Junction and Memnagar Junction. The Flyovers were constructed in a very busy traffic environment with all the necessary precautions. Pile foundations were provided due to the high nos. of utilities passing through the area. For the superstructure precast precast pretensioned girders were provided with cast in situ diaphragm and slab. This was the first time this technology was used in the state of Gujarat. MMCPL did the Surveys, Soil Investigations, Traffic Surveys, Preparation of Detailed Project Report, Preparation of Detailed Design and Working Drawings, Support during construction.

PROJECT OUTCOME :

In spite of the problems encountered during construction and traffic snarls, the flyovers were completed in time for the commissioning of the Ahmedabad Bus Rapid Transit System. The project was adjudged the best Urban Transport Initiative in the country.
